MIGRAINES

MIGRAINES

As the owner of WSDV, I am committed to supporting veterans like yourself in navigating the complexities of VA disability benefits. Today, I want to shed light on how experiencing migraines can be pivotal in securing service-connected compensation through the VA.

Understanding Migraines and VA Rating Criteria:

Migraines, though often challenging to quantify, can significantly impact daily life and overall well-being. The VA recognizes this and has established rating criteria to fairly assess the severity of migraines. The key factors considered in the rating process include the frequency, duration, and intensity of your migraines and any associated symptoms that may affect your ability to function.

Here's a brief overview of the VA rating system for migraines:

0%: Infrequent migraines with non-prostrating aura.

10%: Prostating attacks occurring on average once a month over the last several months.

30%: Prostrating attacks occurring on average more than once but less than twice a month.

50%: Very frequent prostrating attacks occur more than twice a month on average.

Filing for Migraines as a Secondary Claim to Mental Health:

It's important to note that migraines can often be linked to mental health conditions such as PTSD or anxiety. If you are already service-connected for a mental health condition, you may be eligible to file a secondary claim for migraines.

To initiate the process, you'll need to provide medical evidence establishing the connection between your migraines and the primary mental health condition. This could include medical opinions, treatment records, or statements from healthcare professionals who can attest to the interrelation.

At WSDV, we specialize in assisting veterans like yourself in navigating the intricacies of VA disability claims. Our team of experts is well-versed in the complexities of filing for migraines, especially as a secondary claim to mental health.
